Lesley Rich Greek Island Painting Workshop 2012
GREEK ISLAND PAINTING WORKSHOP
Plein Air in Hydra, Greece
September 19 - October 02, 2012
Instructed by Lesley Rich
Thirteen days in Greece. Limited to twelve students.
A wonderful painting trip.
Some things about Hydra: It is only 120 miles from Athens, two hours
by hydrofoil. It is a beautiful island. Cars, motorbikes and bicycles
are banned from the island which gives it a charmingly primitive feel.
Shuttle boats that speed up and down the coast are the main source of
transportation to remote fishing villages and beaches. Donkeys and mules
plod through the streets carrying luggage and furniture and groceries.
As one guide book asserts "On Hydra a traffic jam looks like a farm
show." The singer and songwriter Leonard Cohen has a house here.
It is a favorite place for painters and musicians and writers.
The dates for this trip: September 19 - October 2, 2012. Ideally you
will leave the U.S. on Sept 18, arriving Athens early on Sept. 19th and
returning from Athens to the United States October 2, 2012.
The estimated cost is $2050. This includes double occupancy
accommodations in Athens for three nights and in Hydra for ten nights,
most transfers including minibus from the hotel to the port of Piraeus,
hydrofoil and ferry to Hydra and return, workshop fees and guide services.
Costs will depend upon fluctuations in the euro and any 2012
price increases. There will be a $350 discount for non-painters.
